Gout Foot

Since College time my foot hurting me every time I stand up too long and if I walk so much miles. I look at it and my left foot not really looks normal like my right one but it's not swollen it just ache if I do those two things. It's actually the joint that is getting bigger compare last time. So I'm guesing it's maybe Gout Foot.

What is Gout Foot?

Gout is a form of arthritis that occurs as a result of the build-up of uric acid in the body and the joint fluid ( hyperuricemia ). This accumulation of uric acid typically occurs when the body has difficulty processing certain protein substances called purines (PURE-EENS) that are found naturally in our diets.

The actual build-up of uric acid can result when the body has difficulty eliminating uric acid through the kidneys and urine, or in some cases, when the body produces too much uric acid. The tendency to accumulate uric acid is often hereditary. It can, however, skip an individual or even a generation and reappear in the children of someone who has no signs of gout. While it is most commonly seen in males between fifty and sixty years of age, gout does occur in females and in younger males.

Symptoms of Gout Foot

Gout usually starts with a sudden onset of intense pain in one or more joints, usually the big toe joint of the foot. The pain is accompanied by redness, swelling and warmth over the joint. Typically, the patient does not recall injuring the joint before the pain started. Many patients say they first noticed pain in the middle of the night or upon arising in the morning.
While symptoms most commonly occur in the big toe joint, any joint may be involved. Other common sites are the instep of the foot, the ankle, or the knee. When the foot is involved, wearing shoes is difficult and painful, as are attempts to move the joint or stand on the foot.

Treatment for Gout Foot Symptoms

Call us immediately. Let us know if you have a red, hot big toe joint (or other joint) and we will get you in right away. In the meantime, you should rest and not walk if you can avoid it. Putting a hot pad or an ice pack on the joint may ease the pain. Avoid any pressure on the foot – even the weight of sheets can be painful. Medicines that you can take without a prescription that reduce inflammation, such as aspirin or ibuprofen may help. When you come to the office we will evaluate your foot to determine if the problem is gout or some other problem (such as an infection). We may have a blood draw done to check for infection and also to check the level of uric acid in your blood. Once we are confident the problem is gout we will prescribe medication that usually relieves the pain fairly rapidly – it will usually resolve completely within a few days. We will also provide treatment to limit the pain while you wait for the medicine to take effect.

After reading the information above... I guess I need to set an appointment to know what's this pain on my foot joint. It's better to be sure and prevent more pain in the future.

Taking care of my sisters and brother before, I intentionally make cerelac more than what they need because I really like the taste. I will eat the rest of what they can't finished.Did you try to eat cerelac with the baby? I guess some not.

My son's age can eat cereal now and I'm actually excited to taste the cereal here. Hmmm... It was not the same taste of the cereal I usually like to eat. There's no taste in it. How come cerelac was so yummy? I actually wonder and try to ask nurses why it taste like that. They just told me " food for baby here has no sugar" and they are pure ingrendients..

So I research why? And I found an answer....

Cerelac is a highly nutritious, easily digested instant cereal popular throughout India and the world. Suitable as a complimentary food for infants from 6 months onwards when breast milk or formula alone can no longer meet the baby's growing nutritional requirements. Allergy Notice: This product contains wheat and milk ingredients.

The Cerelac range is intended for spoon feeding only and only one or two meals should be given a day (unless otherwise advised by a doctor or health care professional)depending also on the age of the infant. Consult your doctor if you have any questions.

Why Do Women Live Longer Than Men?

This Article was sent to me by my friend and I want to share to all my bloggers friend...

Across the industrialized world, women still live 5 to 10 years longer than men. Among people over 100 years old, 85% are women, according to Tom Perls, founder of the New England Centenarian Study at Boston University and creator of the website LivingTo100.com. Time.com asks him why.

Q: Why do women live longer than men?

A: *One important reason is the big delay — and advantage — women have over men in terms of cardiovascular disease, like heart attack and stroke. Women develop these problems usually in their 70s and 80s, about 10 years later than men, who develop them in their 50s and 60s. For a long time, doctors thought the difference was due to estrogen. But studies have shown that this may not be the case, and now we know that giving estrogen to women post-menopause can actually be bad for them.

One reason for that delay in onset of cardiovascular disease could be that women are relatively iron-deficient compared to men — especially younger women, those in their late teens and early 20s — because of menstruation. Iron plays a very important part in the reactions in our cells that produce damaging free radicals, which glom onto cell membranes and DNA, and may translate into aging the cell. In fact, in our diets, red meat is the main source of iron, and lack of iron is probably one major reason that being vegetarian is healthy for you. There was a very good study looking at the intake of red meat and heart disease in Leiden in the Netherlands: in regions where people didn't eat red meat, those populations had half the rate of heart attack and stroke compared to the populations that did eat red meat.

*Another more complicated possibility [for women's longevity] is that women have two X chromosomes, while men have one. (Men have an X and a Y.) When cells go through aging and damage, they have a choice in terms of genes — either on one X chromosome or the other. Consider it this way: you have a population of cells, all aging together. In some cells, the genes on one X chromosome are active; in other cells, by chance, the same set of genes, with different variations, are active on the other X chromosome. Don't forget, we all have the same genes — the reason we differ is because we express different variations of those genes, like different colors of a car. Now, if one set of variations provides a survival advantage for the cells versus another, then the cells with the advantage will persist while the other ones will die off, leaving behind more cells with the genes on the more advantageous X chromosome. So, in women, cells can perhaps be protected by a slightly better variation of a gene on the second X chromosome. Men don't have this luxury and don't get this choice.

It's very unclear [how big an effect that could have]. I've seen men who have done horrendous damage to themselves over time with smoking and drinking and who still get to 100 and older — though that's very, very rare. They might have the right combination of some really special genetic variations that we call "longevity enabling genes" — which we're on the mad hunt for. Meanwhile other individuals may do everything right and only make it into their 80s. That may be because they have what we call "disease genes," some genetic variations that are relatively bad for them. Now some of these [disease genes] may be on the X chromosome, [meaning that women who have the second X chromosome with which to compensate, would have an advantage]. But it's really still a very complicated puzzle to tease out.

*[There are a few other reasons that men die earlier in life more often than women.] Men in their late teens and 20s go through something called "testosterone storm." The levels of the hormone can be quite high and changeable, and that can induce some pretty dangerous behavior among young men. They don't wear their seatbelts; they drink too much alcohol; they can be aggressive with weapons and so on and so forth. These behaviors lead to a higher death rate.

Another area where we see higher death rates among men is among the depressed — especially older men. If they attempt suicide, they are more likely to succeed than women.

Overall, about 70% of the variation around average life expectancy — [just over 80 for women and just over 75 for men in the U.S.] — is probably attributable to environmental factors — your behaviors and your exposures. Probably only 30% is due to genetics. And that's very, very good news. There's so much we can do. Most of us should be able to get into our late 80s. What's more, to get to older ages, like the centenarians, you are necessarily compressing the time you're sick to the end of your life. It's not a case where the older you get, the sicker you get. It's very much the case that the older you get, the healthier you've been.

*But, in general, there are maybe three things men do worse than women. They smoke a lot more. (That gender gap is fortunately shrinking, since men are smoking less and less.) They eat more food that leads to high cholesterol. And, perhaps related to that, men tend not to deal with their stress as well as women. They may be more prone to internalizing that stress rather than letting go — though that's a fairly controversial point. Nonetheless, stress plays a very important role in cardiovascular disease

Tarsier

I was so excited to see and touch this tarsier. When we're finally with them the owner told us not to touch them...they are only for eyes... I felt bad that time and hoping I can touch them. Blessing in disguise my camera needed new film so I stayed for a while to change new film. And when all of my officemate was gone the owner told me to hold the tarsier and take picture with it. I'm so happy the owner change his mind and let me have this nice experience. Feel the cold feet of this tarsier.

Farting and Burping

Air from our tummy that we always want to come out. There are some cultures they prefer farting than burping. Other way around they accepts burping than farting in public. Which you think you prefer best?

With my husband it is ok if we did fart or burp. I'm ashame if my farting smell but mostly it doesn't smell and no sound that's why sometimes I just fart in public. But burping in public sometimes I can't make it because some people may say no manners. Honestly I prefer both. I don't care if somebody fart or burp. Maybe they really need to do it to help them feel ok. All of us know if we fart and burp we will fine and no pain on our tummy. So I do consider if someone did it in public.

When our baby was born. I really appreciate farting and burping. After feeding the baby, it is a must to make them burp or fart. Make sure there is no gas in their tummy or else mommy and daddy can't sleep. Babies will cry and feel bad with the gas that can't come out. They really need to do it. With our son I'm so happy he did a lot of farting and burping. I know it is gross but we need to do it. So don't be shy or else you will be hurt.

What is Flatulence?

Flatulence is the presence of a mixture of gases in the digestive tract of mammals that are byproducts of the digestion process. Such a mixture of gases is known as flatus, and is expelled from the rectum in a process also known as flatulence, commonly referred to as farting.

What is burping?
Belching, also known as burping, ructus, or eructation, involves the release of gas from the digestive tract (mainly esophagus and stomach) through the mouth. It is usually accompanied with a typical sound and, at times, an odor.

Child-proof bottle

Honestly I hate Childproof caps, especially when I'm in a hurry I can't open them. Those things made me mad sometimes that's why I always ask my husband to open for me.I know those were made to prevent curious toddlers from accidentally opening the bottles. For safety purposes. My mother-in-law told me that my husband plays with the medicines and put them on the toaster. There's no childproof caps before when we are kids. I don't think that most kids end up opening bottles because it's a goal, they're just playing with them and they happen to open.

One in five kids able to open medicine bottles and chemical containers, even those with child-resistant tops. So even though it is childproof still parents must store these potentially dangerous products safely - high up, out of sight and preferably locked away.

Childproof caps on prescription bottles are almost impossible for most people to open. I'm one of them. You need to press very hard while turning the lid, while lining up some sorts of arrows or dots and so forth. Sometimes eventhough you follow instructions still it's not working. Well anyway most pharmacies will give you a non-childproof pill bottle if you request it.

Philippines Flag Rule of Use

The Philippines National Flag

The Department of Education has issued guidelines on the proper use of the Philippine flag. Most of them are based on RA 8491 on the proper display and use of the Philippine flag, on the singing of the national anthem and the prohibited acts on its use. Section 12 of the law states that "when the Philippine flag is flown with another flag, the flags, if both are national flags, must be flown on separate staffs of the same height and shall be of equal size." It also directs that "the Philippine flag shall be hoisted first and lowered last." The law also states that "if in a hanging position, the blue field shall be to the right (left of the observer). Since the flag is commonly displayed in schools, offices and stages or platforms, the law also dictates that "the flag shall be at the left (facing the stage) or the left of the office upon entering.

Prohibited acts involving the Philippine flag are as follows:

Lowering the flag to salute or compliment any person or object

To use the flag "as a drapery, festoon, tablecloth, covering for ceilings, walls, statues or other objects, as a pennant in the hood, side, back and top of motor vehicles, a staff or whip, for unveiling monuments or statues; and as trademarks, or for industrial, commercial or agricultural labels or designs"

Displaying the flag "under any painting or picture, horizontally face-up, below any platform, or in discotheques, cockpits, night and day clubs, casinos, gambling joints and places of vice or where frivolity prevails"

Wearing "the flag in whole or in part as a costume or uniform

Adding "any word, figure, mark, picture, design, drawings, advertisement, or imprint of any nature on the flag"

"Print, paint or attach representation of the flag on handkerchiefs, napkins, cushions, and other articles of merchandise"

Use the flag as "display or be part of any advertisement or infomercial"

"To display the flag in front of buildings or offices occupied by those who are not Filipino citizens".

By the way,how about those Filipinos who puts little Philippines flag inside of their car hanging on their mirror? Is it prohibited? My hubby actually planning to buy one. He really want one.

It's was nice to know that our government emphasize the rules of use of our flag. Always respect our flag. Before when I'm still in elementary my sister use to wear Philippines Flag as gown for United Nations. So now it's already prohibited. How I wish they will make more efforts to develop our country not just focusing on some small issues.

I observed here in states, some that are prohibited on our flag, americans do all what they want with their flag. They even made umbrella out of their flag design and used that umbrella in television while they celebrate their independence day. One guy also burn their flag right in front of White House. According to that guy he love his country thats why he burn the flag. They have their freedom of expression.Well it's their flag.

Honey not advisable to babies

Never give your baby honey or food made with honey. Your baby could get very sick or even die.

The message above made me think and I want to know the answer. Why honey not advisable to children under 1 year old? So I made a little research and want to share with you.

Honey is not suitable for babies under one year because of the risk of botulism. This is extremely rare, but, as a safety precaution you are advised not to give honey to young babies. This means that it should not be used to sweeten fruit in cooking and it should not be added to a bottle either. Also, soothers should never be dipped in honey. Honey as well as sugar are sometimes added to babies bottles, but, it is important to warn that this may cause your baby harm. Although there is no legislation that requires labelling of honey as unsuitable for infants and babies under one year, some honey manufacturers state that it is unsuitable on their label.

What is botulism?

Botulism is a serious illness that causes flaccid paralysis of muscles. It is caused by a neurotoxin, generically called botulinum toxin, that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. There are seven distinct neurotoxins (types A-G) that Clostridium botulinum produce, but types A, B, and E (rarely F) are the most common that produce the flaccid paralysis in humans. The other types mainly cause disease in animals. Most Clostridium species produce only one type of neurotoxin.

The recorded history of botulism begins in 1735, when the disease was first associated with German sausage (food-borne disease, or food poisoning after eating sausage). In 1870, a German physician by the name of Muller derived the name botulism from the Latin word for sausage. Clostridium botulinum bacteria were first isolated in 1895, and a neurotoxin that it produces was isolated in 1944 by Dr. Edward Schantz.

How many kinds of botulism are there?

There are three main kinds of botulism, which are categorized by the way in which the disease is acquired:

Food-borne botulism is caused by eating foods that contain the botulinum neurotoxin.

Wound botulism is caused by neurotoxin produced from a wound that is infected with the bacteria Clostridium botulinum.

Infant botulism occurs when an infant consumes the spores of the botulinum bacteria. The bacteria then grow in the intestines and release the neurotoxin.

Three other kinds of botulism have been described but are seen rarely. The first is adult intestinal colonization that is seen in older children and adults with abnormal bowels. Only rarely does intestinal infection with the Clostridium botulinum bacteria occur in adults. Typically, the adult form of this intestinal botulism is related to abdominal surgical procedures. The second kind (injection botulism) is seen in patients injected with inappropriately high amounts of therapeutic neurotoxin (for example, Botox, Dysport), while the third kind (inhalation botulism) has occurred in laboratory personnel who work with the neurotoxins. All of these six kinds of botulism are potentially fatal.

How serious is botulism?

Botulinum neurotoxin is considered one of the most potent, lethal substances known. As little as about one nanogram/kg can be lethal to an individual, and scientists have estimated that about one gram could potentially kill one million people. All forms of botulism can be fatal and are considered medical emergencies. Food-borne botulism can be especially dangerous because many people can be poisoned by eating even small amounts of neurotoxin-contaminated food. A botulism outbreak is a public-health emergency that is reportable to the U.S. government.

How does botulism neurotoxin affect the body?

A neurotoxin actually paralyzes the nerves so that the muscles cannot contract. This happens when the neurotoxin enters nerve cells and eventually interferes with the release of acetylcholine so the nerve cannot stimulate the muscle to contract. Unless the nerve can regenerate a new axon that has no exposure to the neurotoxin, the interference at the neuromuscular junction is permanent. This is why it takes so long to recover from botulism and also why cosmetic and therapeutic uses of diluted neurotoxin can be effective for relatively lengthy time periods.

What kind of organism is Clostridium botulinum?

Clostridium botulinum is the name of bacteria commonly found in soil all over the world. The bacteria are considered to be anaerobic, which means these rod-shaped organisms grow best in low or absent oxygen levels. Clostridium form spores which allow the bacteria to survive in a dormant state until exposed to conditions that can support growth. There are seven types of botulism neurotoxin designated by the letters A through G. Only types A, B, E, and F cause illness in humans.

Feeding Your Baby

Helpful Information

1. Be patient when feeding your baby. Babies need time and practice to learn to eat. They are messy eaters. Always sit with your baby while he/she eats.

2. Bottles are for plain water, breastmilk or formula. Give juice in a cup only. Never give sweetened drinks like Kool-Aid, sodas (pop), punch, gelatin water, or sugar water.

3. Never force baby to finish a bottle or food. Your baby is the best judge of how much to eat. Babies will tell you when they have had enough by turning their heads away, closing their lips, pushing food out of their mouths, or throwing food on the floor.

4. Feed your baby from a small dish, not from the jar. Feed with a small spoon. Use a clean spoon to take more food out of the jar. Your baby's saliva (spit) can spoil the food, which may cause diarrhea. Throw away any left-over food or liquids in your baby's bottle or dish. Store left-over jar food in the refrigerator. Use within two days.
5. Add one new food at a time. Wait five days before giving your baby another new food. Watch for allergic reactions.
6. Foods that may cause allergic reactions are:
  • Cow's Milk
  • Orange juice
  • Egg whites
  • Wheat products
  • Corn products
  • Fish or other seafood
  • Soy products like soy milk and tofu
  • Peanuts and other nuts
  • Peanut butter
  • Chocolate
  • Strawberries
  • Raw Tomatoes

Most babies outgrow these allergies.

7. Some allergic reactions are:

  • Skin rash
  • Gas
  • Breathing problems
  • Diarrhea

8. Buy plain foods. Avoid buying combination dinners. You can make your own combinations with meats, vegetables, and rice or noodles. These are healthier and less expensive.

9. Offer fruit for dessert. Babies do not need baby desserts like pudding, custards, and cobblers.

WARNING: Babies can easily choke on hot dogs, nuts, seeds, popcorn, chips, grapes, raisins, raw vegetables, and peanut butter. Do not serve these foods. Never give your baby honey or food made with honey. Your baby could get very sick or even die.
