Nectarines are essentially the same fruit as Peaches, the primary difference is that nectarines are smooth-skinned and peaches are fuzzy. The smooth-skin characteristic that distinguishes nectarines is a minor genetic variation, like red hair among people; it is even possible that a peach tree may suddenly produce a branch that bears nectarines, and vice versa. Most recommended varieties have red-and-yellow skins with yellow or white flesh.
Scientific classification: The nectarine belongs to the family Rosaceae. It is classified as Prunus persica variety nucipersica.
How to Store:To speed up the ripening process, place nectarines in a paper bag and store loosely at room temperature. Once ripe, nectarines will keep in the refrigerator for a week. Nutritional Facts:· Low fat· Saturated fat-free· Sodium-free· Cholesterol-free· A good source of vitamin C

I researched this because it is my first time to eat this fruit. One of my co-worker shared to us and I'm glad to eat new fruit that I never knew.
